14 Premier League and Championship stars Rangers could target on free transfers

Rangers fans will be expecting the club to be scouring the globe for new signings.
The 49ers Enterprises takeover is expected to be finalised by May and that is expected to mean significantly more spending power at Ibrox in the transfer market.
Fans will have plenty of views on players the club could be bringing in and Ross McCormack has alreayd urged the club to make loanee Vaclav Cerny the first.
But at the same time, everyone loves a bargain and even a freebie. We’ve already looked at some Scottish Premiership stars Rangers could target on a pre-contract following on from the capture of Lyall Cameron.
But what about down south? We’ve taken a look at some of the players coming out of contract in the Premier League and Championship that may just be on the radar.
Danny Ings
Was recently linked to Celtic, so why not Rangers? Featuring mostly from the bench for West Ham but not over the hill yet at 32.
Axel Tuanzebe
The Ipswich defender has played regularly when fit and can cover at right-back or centre half. Could be set to move on amid a possible relegation.
Danny Ward
A goalkeeper may be on the agenda for the summer and Ward has experience in the Scottish Premiership with Aberdeen as well as at the top level down south.
Jonny Evans
Evans was linked to Rangers in January but Philippe Clement wasn’t keen. Just turned 37 so youth is not on his side, but if a new manager wants experience?
Jamie Vardy
The Leicester legend is even older than Evans at 38, but Jermain Defoe anyone? Has been whispers in the past about Vardy coming north.
Tom Cairney
Scotland international midfielder has a touch of class about him and may be on the lookout for a change at the age of 34.
Daniel Iversen
Goalkeeper has been contracted to Leicester since 2018 but has played most of his games out on loan at the likes of Rotherham, Preston and OH Leuven. Currently with Stoke until the end of the season and coming into his prime at the age of 27.
Massimo Luongo
Defensive midfielder is not playing much for Ipswich and has two promotions under his belt with the Tractor Boys. Plenty of experience in the Championship with other clubs, too.
Josh Brownhill
This one is actually concrete after reports at the end of December Rangers were ready to offer Brownhill a contract. However, there was said to be competition from several English clubs as well as Celtic, Lazio and Fiorentina.
Freddie Woodman
Another goalkeeper who has already played up here with Kilmarnock and Aberdeen. Since played over 100 games in the Championship for Preston and is a reliable shotstopper.
Jimmy Dunne
Dunne is loved by Hearts fans after a short loan stint and is now starring for QPR where has been a regular for four seasons.
Angus Gunn
Scotland keeper is out of contract at Norwich in the summer and could be a good, solid option. Gunn has been linked to Rangers before.
Dominic Hyam
Another Scotland international performing in the English Championship as a regular for Blackburn Rovers. very experienced at that level.
CJ Egan-Riley
The former Hibs loanee was well thought of during his time up here. Playing regularly for a Burnley side chasing promotion but hasn’t been tied down to a new deal.
