6ft 4inch colossus would 'fit the profile' of player Rangers need to sign to solve defensive crisis

One of Rangers biggest problems hasn't been the shape or organisation of the defence, it has been a comedy of errors in terms of individual mistakes.
Philippe Clement has talked about it, and Liam Kelly was clearly frustrated after conceding three goals against Hibernian.
The manager is limited in terms of options, however, he needs reinforcements to his squad – especially in defence – however, one former Rangers player being tipped as a possible option has more than a few red flags, and yet he could be the answer.

Craig Moore runs the rule over Rangers return for Nikola Katic
Nikola Katic left Rangers after struggling to regain form following knee surgery.
The no-nonsense defender will always be welcome back at Ibrox due to the winning goal he scored at Parkhead, but as a player?
Craig Moore, now an agent, reckons that the Bosnia international could be a solid transfer option:
“Interesting one. Central defender who I think Rangers need and a player that has crossed our desks in the last days is Katic,” he told the Go Radio Football Show. “A former Rangers player."
“Obviously was very, very solid at the club and unfortunately picked up an ACL injury and then ended up in Croatia and all that sort of stuff to get his fitness. How Rangers supporters would feel towards a player like Katic, I think it is important that whatever player – if Rangers do look to bring in a central defender – needs to hit the ground running.
“There is no time transition of three or four months. It is now. You’ve got to deliver now. He would be a player that would certainly fit that profile."
Would Katic solve Rangers soft centre problem?
Katic has found consistency at FC Zurich in Switzerland and has only missed one game through injury since leaving Rangers, according to Transfermarkt.
Now 28, the 6ft 4inch tall stopper is approaching his peak, however, his best was never a problem.
The main reason why Rangers let Katic go was because of his propensity to make the sort of mistakes that Clement has seen from his defence this season.
His passing and composure on the ball was also nowhere near the required level, although his data from this season suggests that he has improved on this.
What is clear though, is that the sort of goal that Rangers dropped two points against Hibernian with simply wouldn't happen on Katic's watch.
