Rangers had a difficult run of fixtures over the festive period and turn of the year and they could well be the last that Philippe Clement presides over.

The manager failed to win away from home again with the lowest xG – expected goals – score of the season against Dundee.

Beating Celtic is all well and good, however, Rangers dropping points against Motherwell, St Mirren, Hibernian and Dundee on either side has seen calls for Clement to be sacked.

Rangers fans call for Philippe Clement to be sacked

A 15-point gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table is reason enough for the Belgian to lose his job, however, the inability to win games away from Ibrox doesn't look like it is going to change anytime soon.

With four attempts against average sides and no wins, it's little wonder fans aren't happy.

"We keep Clement in and Celtic will have won the league before Easter," declared one fan who isn't happy what he is seeing.

Another reckons that it is an easy decision for new CEO Patrick Stewart to make, "The jotters. It's such a tap in for Patrick Stewart. That one where you get down on your hand and knees and heid it over the line."

Clement continues to fail away from home

With the league out of reach, Scott Cameron, posting on X, reckons that Rangers shouldn't rush to make an appointment if they pull the trigger, "Interim manager till end of season and a permanent manager from 1st June please. Nobody with sense should be taking this situation on permanently mid-season."

A rare moment of sense given the current shambles on the pitch and the transition off the pitch.

And summing up Rangers current plight perfectly was David Edgar of the Heart and Hand podcast:

"Well, we served up what we always serve up. The board can delude themselves if they want that Clement is going to improve things but supporters can see the truth. 13 points out of 33 away from home. It's not a blip, it's not bad luck. It's what Clement delivers."

He’s not wrong.

Stewart’s own reputation is now at risk just weeks after taking over as CEO if he continues to oversee a manager that the fans have clearly had enough of.
