Ally McCoist slams 'criminal' Rangers star for what they did against Nice

Rangers knew that Nice were going to present a tough test with the French outfit currently above Lyon in Ligue 1. 

An early penalty scare for Philippe Clement saw three incidents in a matter of seconds looked at with the Gers manager happy to see the initial decision reversed. 

What he wasn't so happy to see was Hamza Igamane just moments later blow a golden chance to put Rangers in front.

Starting in place of the dropped Cyriel Dessers, the young Moroccan striker has rarely been given the chance to start games and fans were excited to see him in Rangers starting XI

What they weren't excited about was a Dessers-esque moment in front of goal that left Rangers legend Ally McCoist on TNT commentary duties speachless:

"Criminal, absolutely unbelievable that they do not get a shot at goal," fumed McCoist.

"Remarkable, remarkable!" 

That Igamane didn’t even get a shot away with Rangers 3 v 1 on the break is hugely frustrating.

Why did Clement drop Cyriel Dessers>

Speaking ahead of the Europa League clash, Clement explained why Igamane, 22, got the nod ahead of the much-criticised Dessers:

“Like everybody knows, we’ve started a new project a few months ago with a lot of young talent, Hamza [Igamane] is taking good steps.

“This is his first time at this stage so I’m really curious to see how he reacts in that way, but it’s also the project we need to do, to give chances to the young players to develop and to get experiences like Connor Barron had a few months ago. 

“What we want from him is that he keeps the ball well, that he’s available against very aggressive defenders, and keeps the ball so that the team can come out of the press of Nice, because that’s one of their strong qualities.”
