Your January 12 transfer window update. Rangers News delivers updates concerning Hjalmar Ekdal, Bamo Meite, Sasa Zdjelar, Lyall Cameron and Ridvan Yilmaz.
Rangers approach for Hjalmar Ekdal
Rangers have reportedly made contact with Burnley over Hjalmar Ekdal and the potential of taking the Swedish centre-back on loan.
The 26-year-old has played just once for the English Championship side this season due to issues with a hamstring injury.
But Rangers have made their move amid their own defensive injury problems, according to Expressen.
Marseille want permanent Bamo Meite deal
Bamo Meite is another of the central defenders on the list.
Rangers are reportedly showing an interest in Marseille's Meite, after previously taking a look in the summer.
Other clubs are interested too though, while an injury to the player could complicate things.
And it has now been revealed Marseille would like to offload the 23-year-old permanently rather than initially loaning him out.
Montpellier have enquired about Meite and their president Laurent Nicollin has revealed their fellow Ligue 1 side want a permanent deal.
"If we have to sign someone, we would rather sign a defender who can play right-back," Nicollin told Midi Libre.
"Bamo Meite, who we contacted, has this profile.
"But Marseille wants to sell him. You never know what can happen at the end of the transfer window."
CSKA Moscow ‘should sell’ Sasa Zdjelar to Rangers
A new name linked to Rangers in recent days was Serbian midielder Sasa Zdjelar.
And his club, CSKA Moscow, have now been urged to accept any offer that comes in from Ibrox.
"CSKA should probably sell Zdjelar to Rangers," Aleksandr Tarkhanov, CSKA’s former coach, told Championat.
"We need to think about whether he will help the team and whether it is worth extending his contract. This will be determined by the management of CSKA.
"But, for now, the 'army men' have the opportunity to make money on Zdjelar. And, if he does not want to extend the contract, Sasa should be sold to the Rangers. Zdjelar is not such a star that we should worry about his departure. There are many footballers of this level."
Gers lead Lyall Cameron
After being named as having an interest in Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron, it now seems Gers are the frontrunners.
That’s being reported by the Scottish Sun after Philippe Clement namechecked Cameron before facing the Dee.
"Lyall Cameron, a very good midfielder," Clement said in his pre-Dundee press conference. "A creative midfielder with decisive action in the last pass and a good solid base behind him also."
Ridvan Yilmaz latest
Another transfer window, more suggestions of Ridvan Yilmaz heading back to Turkey.
This time it’s Trabzonspor being heavily linked but Galatasaray and his former club Besiktas have also been mentioned.
There is a new twist though with a claim Trabzon are also looking at Celtic’s Greg Taylor on a pre-contract.
Taylor is wanted by other clubs though so his decision could have a direct impact on Yilmaz’s future.
