Rangers would have wanted to be more comfortable against Dundee even if the final score didn't reflect what it could have been.

Philippe Clement was frustrated that more goals weren't scored on the 125th Ibrox anniversary celebrations but was happy that progress is being made and better quality chances are being created by the squad.

It might have been a forgettable afternoon, but there was one player at the other of the park who will remember the Rangers win for the rest of his life in Liam Kelly.

Liam Kelly finally sees Rangers dream come true

The 28-year old Scotland international returned to the club he supports after time away playing first team football for Livingston, QPR and Motherwell.

Replacing Robby McCrorie as backup to Jack Butland, who had to withdraw from the Dundee game shortly before kickoff, Kelly has been speaking to Rangers TV about finally making his debut:

"This is what we work for, so I am really delighted, obviously 20 years ago I drove through the gates at the training centre, so it was an unbelievable feeling, it was amazing," said Kelly.

"It was everything I had imagined, the game was completely different from a Rangers point of view, I have played here a few times for other teams, and you don’t have as much control in the game as that. "I need to say a big thanks to Colin (Stewart) the goalie coach, obviously we do a lot of work. I am a better goalie now than when I first came. You need to be ready, ideally, I want the game to go with no drama and if anything, ever happens to Jack then the fans, players and my teammates know that there’s not going to be any hassle in the game."

Should Rangers sign more players like Kelly?

Kelly hasn't been deluded about his role at Rangers since rejoining. He didn't make big claims about competing for the No.1 role but assured fans that he would be ready to step up if he did get a chance.

He was quiet against Dundee, however, his handling and distribution proved that he is a man of his word.

There is a shortage of Scots in the team and there is a shortage of Rangers fans in and around the squad to remind everyone of the day to day standards needed at Auchenhowie.

Sometimes, it's not just about having the best players, it's about having players who would run through brick walls for Rangers too, something Kelly
