Gers boast contract clause on international that has been linked with Premier League return

Tom Lawrence played a key role as Rangers staged a stunning comeback against Dundee to run out 4-3 winners at Dens Park.
James Tavernier was an unsung hero for Rangers on the day, the Ibrox full-back rifling in a stunning long-range effort to haul the scoreline back to 3-2.
Tom Lawrence was involved in the build up to the goal, linking up with Danilo, who flicked it on to the Rangers skipper.
This effort proved the precursor to the Ibrox side's comeback win over Dundee in the Scottish Premiership clash.
It wasn't Lawrence's only contribution either; just moments later was the Welsh international on the scoresheet himself.
Receiving the ball 30 yards from goal, Lawrence opened up some space with a fine first touch before firing the ball low past Trevor Carson to equalise.
It's a moment which threatens to spark Lawrence's Rangers career into life but is it too little, too late for the clearly talented Welshman?
Tom Lawrence having Rangers resurgence
Whilst Cyriel Dessers would win it for Rangers with a last minute effort, Lawrence's contribution has gone somewhat under the radar.
The 31-year-old's three seasons at Ibrox have been decimated by injury, with Lawrence never really recovering from a serious knee injury sustained in 2022.
Since then the player has sustained a series of smaller injury problems which have sorely impacted his time in Glasgow but recent performances have been cause for positivity.
Lawrence was recalled to the Wales squad for the first time in four years under Craig Bellamy but never earned any minutes as the nation's World Cup qualifying campaign got underway.
It's adding to a sense that Lawrence is back fit and fighting and ready to contribute for club in a country in a way that the attacking midfielder just hasn't been doing consistently enough for the last three seasons.
Lawrence had put in an impressive cameo at Celtic Park before the break, with the midfielder bringing fresh energy and composure to the middle of the pitch as the Parkhead side pressed for a winner.
It's worth noting the former Manchester United youth was on the pitch when Hamza Igamane rattled in a stunning winner in Glasgow's east end.
Lawrence also kept his cool to net from the penalty spot and help fire Rangers to the Europa League quarter finals at the expense of Fenerbahce.
Rangers boast contract option on in-demand Tom Lawrence
Lawrence's recent resurgence has got us thinking about the attacking midfielder's situation at Rangers.
Rangers cut £6m from the club's wage bill in the summer and are expected to continue with that restructuring heading into the next campaign.
Lawrence is one of a number of highly-paid domestic based players who have failed to really repay the Gers' investment in their services.
Rangers have done well to move on the likes of Kieran Dowell and Ben Davies, who are impressing out on loan with Birmingham City. Dowell especially is wanted by the Blues permanently.
Rabbi Matondo hopes to move to Hannover 96 permanently too, whilst Aris Thessaloniki are negotiating over Jose Cifuentes.
Likewise, Lawrence was linked to Besiktas in January and a potential reunion with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he struggled to break back into the Rangers team.
Ipswich Town were also linked to Lawrence as, like the rest of the Rangers squad, the midfielder faced criticism from the stands.
But in recent weeks there's been an upturn in Lawrence's form that could have Rangers thinking twice heading into the summer window.
Lawrence signed a three-year deal to join Rangers back in 2022 worth a reported £22k per week or £1.15m per annum.
As things stand, Lawrence is set to leave Rangers having made just 66 appearances (38 starts) in three seasons with a sense of injustice or unfinished business surrounding his time in Glasgow.
But Rangers do have the option of activating another year on Lawrence's contract, something which is rarely spoken about in Ibrox circles.
We've seen flashes in recent weeks of the player Rangers thought they were getting when Lawrence joined from Derby County in 2022.
Alex Rae feels Philippe Clement suffered as a result of the club letting too many of their experienced pros go in one window last season.
Now Rangers have to weigh up the investment into Tom Lawrence for one more season and we reckon it's not the worst idea to let the Welshman write a happier ending in Glasgow.
