'I wonder why?'... Rangers fan media target Willie Collum after referee chief makes VAR team claim
Yesterday at 03:30 PM
Five days after one of the worst officiating errors in Scottish football and Rangers have finally heard from referee's chief Willie Collum.
The Ibrox outfit and the former whistler are never going to be on each other's Christmas card list, however, it has been refreshing to see someone from the SFA criticise their own so heavily.
Collum slammed the "unacceptable" non-penalty award to Rangers, with fans not willing to let things go.

Rangers fan media react as Willie Collum slams VAR
Much of the language used by Rangers fans isn't fit for publication, however, the major fan media outlets have also had their say.
This is Ibrox focussed on some of the things that Celtic fans have been coming out with over the last few days:
“You lot are paranoid,” “Didn’t happen,” “You don’t know the rules,” “Can’t accept the defeat,” “Nothing to see here, move on,” before posting the clip of Collum condeming the decision, or lack thereof.
Heart and Hand felt that the most "damning line" was that of Alan Muir suggesting that the foul was "more outside," by definition this means that some of it was inside – which makes it a penalty.
Stevie Clifford from the Four Lads Had a Dream podcast took things a bit further:
"I wonder why?!….." Clifford wrote after quoting the following assessment from Collum:
"This is not a difficult decision for the VAR team, they are not forensic enough in the analysis & move far too quickly."
What happens next?
Collum was given the chief of refereeing role to improve the standard of officiating in Scotland and to bring change.
Only St Mirren has been worse affected by VAR mistakes this season than Rangers in terms of penalty decisions and/or red card offences, which doesn't help the feeling of trust in the support.
Collum, however, claims that he is taking action:
“You talk about accountability, I was very open when I took up this role at the start of the season that there would be accountability in refereeing," Collum told host Gordon Duncan.
“I told the media, managers, that we would deal with things internally.
“There would be accountability but we’ve been consistent with that throughout the season, I can assure people that.
“I did say if match officials find themselves not involved in future matches or we need to change the profile of certain matches, we won’t come out and publicly say that.
“In the same way a manager doesn’t publicly come out, he’s maybe taken a player out. We’ve got a responsibility to protect the wider group of referees but we’ve also got a real responsibility to protect the match officials involved with this as well.
“So, what I’m assuring you is accountability in refereeing, but there has been consistently since I’ve taken this post.”
