Rangers struggled in the summer with issues off the pitch, in the stands – literally – and with Philippe Clement having to handle a saga or two.

One of those saw Ianis Hagi certain to leave the club he joined for £3m and banished from the first-team squad when a transfer never materialised.

The manager had to field questions on a near weekly basis about the Romania international, however, in a shock turn of events, the 25-year old is back in the senior squad after keeping himself ticking over with the B team.

Ianis Hagi to return to Rangers first-team fold

Rangers official X page published pictures of Hagi back in training and Clement will be glad to have resolved an issue that has dragged on for far too long.

The Gers boss is short of attackers and Hagi has proven that he can contribute numbers.

The Rangers Review's Joshua Barrie has claimed that the decision was a mutual one with everyone involved keen to see Hagi back playing on the stage that his talent deserves:

"A solution has been reached following dialogue between the two parties with a desire to resolve the situation expressed on either side.

"Hagi has since returned to first-team training ahead of the club's remaining fixtures before the upcoming October international break."

Hagi gets his wish with Rangers return

Hagi grew frustrated during the summer and took to social media to put right speculation surrounding his future and where he wanted to play football, in his eyes, it was always Rangers:

"I've been aware of the noise and speculation regarding my situation, my role and my contract in the club.

"I have loved playing for Rangers and the Ibrox fans since the moment I got here.

"I want to make it clear, I have never once asked to leave this football club.

"I will always make myself available, and there's always a way to navigate around any situation if there's a will on both sides and that was communicated officially weeks ago by me and my team.

"I'm here, willing, and Rangers Ready to help, work, and fight for the Club, Team and Manager."

With Oscar Cortes and Rabbi Matondo both out injured, it just makes sense to bring Ianis Hagi back.

Clement maybe doesn't see him as a number 10, however, Hagi can operate on either wing or as a number eight.

With fixtures every mid-week for the foreseeable future, having depth and quality options to rotate could be key in maintaining momentum.

Unfortunately, Hagi isn't registered for the Europa League squad but there is no reason why he won't be seen in domestic action as quickly as the weekend's clash with St Johnstone.

To quote Arsene Wenger, he's almost like a new signing…
