Rangers have finally woken up in this transfer window as Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen undertake phase two of what is still an extensive rebuild.

The biggest problem is still getting underachievers off the wage bill and getting those who can't stay fit out the squad too.

One player who falls under this category is Tom Lawrence with Rangers potentially being handed a January bonus.

Besiktas eye move for Rangers midfielder Tom Lawrence

Out of contract in the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, Besiktas are eyeing a move for the attacking midfielder with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having managed the Wales international at Man Utd.

The transfer supremo has reported that the Turks have shown an "initial interest" in a move that could free up much needed resources for a key position.

On a basic £22,000 per week, via Salary Sport, the 31-year old would be unlikely to get his current deal extended given the club's re-energised approach to transfers and player trading.

Not only this, but if Clement really wants to reduce the number of players in the treatment room, offloading those who spend most of their time there should be a priority.

With the Scottish Premiership all but done, Rangers would be unlikely to stand in Lawrence's way if the chance of an early move presented itself – a potential saving of £500,000 isn't to be sniffed at, nor is the chance to bring in fresher legs.

What has Clement said about letting players leave Rangers?

When asked about potential departures in this window, specifically, Kieran Dowell and Rabbi Matondo, who were dropped from the squad to face Aberdeen, Clement said:

"I never speak about individual cases and names in that way. It’s always in the transfer window.

"It’s about the right price for every player. It needs to be a win-win for everybody. We will see what’s going to happen next week."

Letting Lawrence go now is the definition of win-win.
