Lofty Hamza Igamane asking price as Rangers should stand firm

Hamza Igamane is starting to look like Rangers’ biggest current asset.
The Moroccan striker is on fire and carried on his hot streak with a superbly taken hat-trick against Hibs, the real obvious positive despite another disappointing result.
It took the 22-year-old some time to settle but after being thrust into a starting position by Philippe Clement he has repaid his manager and then some.
Igamane now has seven Premiership goals in 16 appearances and also banged in four in four in the Europa League. It’s not just his goals either, he’s a box of tricks as well as being strong physically and someone who can lead the line effectively.
Igamane’s form is such that he has been linked to English Premier League clubs just months into his Gers stint.
Everton weren’t on the initial list of clubs named but were then added when the sent scouts to watch him score against Tottenham.
Kris Boyd insists he is not surprised by the interest from England while admitting he was wrong about Igamane in his initial assertion.
But it all leaves Rangers in a bit of a quandary about what to do now.
Should Rangers sell Igamane?
It is not yet clear if any of the interested clubs are interested in signing Igamane this month of if they are looking at him for the summer.
Regardless, the Ibrox club would surely be looking at banking a considerable profit after paying just £1.7million to sign him from AS FAR in the summer.
But just what sort of price should they be looking for?
This has been debated by the Open Goal panel, who reckon Rangers should be holding out for a handsome fee.
Andy Halliday says his old club have been awful at selling players at the right time and for the right price, and reckons this is the perfect chance to do so.
He said: "This is what Rangers have done wrong for years. See if somebody comes in with a big offer, you sell them.
“It goes back to the start of the season when Philippe Clement says everyone has got a price except Jack Butland.
“A 30-year-old goalie, you can’t replace him? Of course you’re selling him!”
When asked if £15million would be the fee, he said: "It's too early to say."
But Tony Watt insisted: "I don't think they sell him under £12m. Upwards of £15m.
“£10m, you’re not taking.”
Rangers fans raise Igamane fear
Rangers fans are fearful that they won’t get to see Igamane in royal blue for very long.
While Clement says his star man is developing faster than expected, explaining: "I get a lot of questions in the beginning of the season why we did that transfer.
"So it's good that people see why now, and it's somebody who's really hungry to become better.
"He made giant steps the last three, four months, technically, tactically for sure, and even more physically, to cope to the rhythm that we play here in the league, to cope also to get more playing minutes, to be able to do that.
"So it's exciting to see a young guy, where we knew he had a lot of talent, but there was a lot of work to do with.
"I had a lot of contact with people in Morocco about that before we signed him, and everybody said he will need at least one year to be a starting XI player.
"So he's taking faster steps than people predicted."
