Rangers fans have been impressed by this summer's loan signings Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Vaclav Cerny.

Whilst the Rangers support haven't quite had the chance to fall in love with the two players, in the same way they did with the likes of Abdallah Sima last season, there's certainly a foundation of romance building at Ibrox.

Vaclav Cerny hasn't ruled out a transfer to Rangers and the Wolfsburg winger in particular is a player the Ibrox faithful increasingly wants to see on a more permanent basis.

But when it comes to Feyenoord defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo, Philippe Clement has just raised doubts over a permanent deal by confirming the 22-year-old has suffered a 'long-term injury'.

It comes after the Dutch U21 defender was clipped falling awkwardly on his knee during a clash with England in the November international break.

Neraysho Kasanwirjo suffers 'long term injury'

"We were dealt a big blow with with Neraysho (Kasanwirjo), what everybody knows probably," Clement told the press ahead of the clash with Dundee United.

"So, we're for the moment in contact with Feyenoord about that. He's going to have an appointment with a surgeon today, so we will have more news probably during the weekend.

"But it's for sure a longer-term injury, and it's now seeing what's the precise problem and talking with Feyenoord where to make the operation, where to make the rehab, so we're in negotiations with everybody.

"I can confirm (it is a knee problem). But I cannot confirm what is the precise injury, because the surgeon first needs to look at it. Because there are a little bit different opinions, so we need to be precise and correct."

Philippe Clement hints at January Rangers transfer move

The news has cast the future of Neraysho Kasanwirjo into major doubt with Rangers boasting an option-to-buy as part of the loan deal.

Kasanwirjo appeared open to a move to Rangers in an interview during the October internationals, the defender telling reporters 'who knows' when asked where his future lies.

With the injury now threatening to cut that loan deal short, Rangers have previously come in for scrutiny for the permanent signing Oscar Cortes after a long-term injury.

Rangers signed Colombian winger Cortes on loan from RC Lens in January before signing a more permanent £4m loan-to-buy in the summer window.

Since then Cortes has suffered three consecutive injuries with the club tight-lipped on the extent of the current issue.

Nils Koppen has assured fans Rangers are 'looking into it'.

Dependent on the extent of the injury, there are now major doubts that Rangers will activate the permanent loan-to-buy transfer of Neraysho Kasanwirjo.

A despondent Clement has described the situation as a 'big blow' to Rangers and furthermore, admits the club may have to sign an alternative in the January transfer window.

"I don't know if you saw the images, how it happened, so it's, you cannot imagine that you have a severe injury in an action like that, but it's football," said Clement.

"It's not only here, it's in a lot of clubs, but it's really hard because he was adapting really well to the club, to the mentality here.

"He showed good things in the games, in the trainings, and he was showing the right quality for Rangers, so it's a big blow for all of us.

"Nana played right-back, left-back, centre-back also. So it's in three positions you lose a player. So that's a blow.

"That's something to think about towards January also and we need to see which fronts we have to solve it in that way."
