Andy Halliday has revealed he played against new Rangers signing Neraysho Kasanwirjo in a bounce game during the international break.

And the Motherwell midfielder admits one thing surprised him about the Ibrox transfer deadline day addition on loan from Feyenoord.

Kasanwirjo will play with Rangers at least until the end of the season and beefs up Philippe Clement’s defensive options for the campaign.

The 22-year-old has yet to make his debut for the Light Blues having been named as an unused substitute in the Old Firm defeat to Celtic and the morale-boosting win over Dundee United.

It was reported by Sky Sports during the United clash that Kasanwirjo was set to be handed his first minutes in a Rangers jersey, but the management team decided otherwise.

So while Rangers fans wait to get a glimpse of their new signing, Halliday has shared what he first noticed about Kasanwirjo when playing against him for Motherwell in a bounce game recently, which reportedly finished 4-1 to Rangers.

Halliday spoke on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard after host Gordon Duncan and Roger Hannah pointed out that Kasanwirjo was denied his debut on Sunday.

Andy Halliday on Rangers defender Kasanwirjo

Halliday: “He (Kasanwirjo) played in the bounce game as well.”

Duncan: “How was he?”

Halliday: “Really small! Yeah, really small height. Especially when my understanding was – I know he’s played right-back but people have been saying he’s been a right centre-half in his career as well. He must be about 5’10” and that was the first thing that caught my attention, his height.”

Duncan: “So do you reckon you see him more as a right-back than centre-back?”

Halliday: “Well what does that mean? It means your captain (James Tavernier) is not playing.”

Rangers bounce game vs Motherwell

Not too much else is known about the international break behind-closed-doors clash between Rangers and Motherwell.

Some fans on Rangers fan forum FollowFollow claimed to have knowledge of the encounter, with one user posting: “We won 4-1. (Oscar) Cortes played.”

Another said: “From memory Cortes, Danilo and (Cole) McKinnon were 3 of our scorers, can’t remember the 4th.

Someone replied: “4-1. (Leon) Balogun, Cortes, (Zak) Lovelace and McKinnon scorers were posted on here last Wednesday.”

And this user wrote: “As stated 4-1. (Clinton) Nsiala hopeless and Jefte impressed.”

As mentioned, Lovelace was back in action after his injury hell and fans reckon the former Millwall youngster could be one to watch this season.
