Rangers have assured fans that they're keeping a transfer watch over the emerging talents in the Scottish Premiership.

The Ibrox side have slept on burgeoning homegrown talents such as Lewis Ferguson and Josh Doig in recent seasons to see clubs in the Serie A swoop in.

Director of recruitment Nils Koppen outlined a 14-point plan to revamp Rangers' recruitment operations with local talent one of the club's main focuses.

It's seen plenty of attention heaped on one Lennon Miller, the Motherwell kid going from strength-to-strength with a Premiership double at the weekend.

But there is another young midfielder impressing in the Scottish Premiership who also popped up with two goals over the weekend.

David Watson nets stunning Killie double

As Lennon Miller has been stealing headlines at Motherwell, Kilmarnock midfielder David Watson has been quietly going about his business at Rugby Park.

The 19-year-old midfielder made a big impression in the Scottish Premiership last season, netting five goals in the top flight as Kilmarnock finished fourth in the table.

This season has not gone quite so well for Derek McInnes' side, who find themselves 11th in the table, and it might've gone even worse if Watson hadn't come off the bench this weekend.

The Scotland U21 star came on at half-time against Dundee United and netted within two minutes to equalise for Killie against the Arabs.

The quality of the goal was immense too; Watson hit a stunning overhead kick effort into the top corner to kickstart a comeback against Dundee United.

Watson then got his second 10 minutes later, meeting a low cross-shot into the box to tap the ball into the United net.

Whilst Kilmarnock eventually let a 3-1 lead slip in the game, and dropped two points at home to Jim Goodwin's side, Watson performance will naturally turn heads.

Rangers have transfer eye on Premiership

If Rangers are serious about picking up the best young Scottish talent, then David Watson will clearly be part of discussions amongst the club's recruitment team.

A goalscoring midfielder who is already beginning to leave a big impression on the league, Rangers must have one eye on the progress of all these young talents in Scotland.

Lennon Miller and David Watson stand out as the two young names who're making the biggest waves and we suspect links to Rangers won't be too far away in the weeks and months ahead.

Rangers have already had some success with the signing of Aberdeen midfielder Connor Barron, who has emerged as a key player in the middle of the pitch at Ibrox.
