Matondo nears Rangers exit
Rangers are looking to rake in a seven-figure transfer fee for Rabbi Matondo as talks over an exit escalate.
Rangers News exclusively revealed earlier in the week that Serie A clubs Torino and Lecce were interested in a loan-to-buy deal for Rabbi Matondo.
But English Championship clubs Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday are now in the mix for Matondo too and things are expected to progress in the coming days.
Adel chance missed
Rangers may have missed a big opportunity on Ibrahim Adel.
Gers were said to be in talks over the signing of the Egyptian winger in the summer but pulled out because they couldn’t afford the £4.5million asking price.
But Adel has now signed a new deal with an £8m release clause so that is what any interested clubs will need to pay.
Frigan to England
Matija Frigan could move to Sunderland almost two years after links to Rangers.
Frigan hasn’t been hitting the heights for Westerlo but Sunderland still apparently remain interested after being in for the player at the same time as Gers.
Cameron competition
Rangers reportedly face competition for Lyall Cameron as they ramp up their interested in Dundee’s star midfielder.
Dee boss Tony Docherty has admitted the player has interest from various clubs and that is why he has stalled on their contract offer.
Rangers are keen to tie up a pre-contract for Cameron and would have to pay a compensation fee.
Zdjelar warning
Sasa Zdjelar is another midfield player to be linked in this window. But Ibrox chiefs have been warned about CSKA Moscow’s Serbian enforcer.
"At the moment, I think so," Khomukha says when asked if losing Zdjelar would be big hit to CSKA's hopes. "It is extremely undesirable to lose players from the main squad.
"I repeat, the loss of any player who plays in the main squad of CSKA will undoubtedly be difficult for the team."
Chukwuemeka not Rangers-bound
One player who won’t be coming to Rangers is Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka.
The Blues reportedly see a future for the talent but are willing to loan him out – but would want his £100,000 wages covered.
Dortmund are an option for the 21-year-old.
Latest Clement quotes on transfers
"I get this question already seven or eight years now," Clement said when asked if any transfer deals where down the line.
"And it's always the same answer, because it's also the truth.
"What is close and what is far? You cannot say that in a transfer window.
"You can only say something when something is signed, when somebody's in the building, when everything is done.
"Otherwise it's always far away.
"We made this analyse of the squad, we looked at players, we know what can be interesting players for the club.
"It's now to see with the club if it's possible to get them.
"Every manager wants more. It's like that.
"But I am focused on what's possible for the club and then to work with the squad that's there to get the best out of that squad. That's my job."
