Rangers could land Hatate 2.0 with SPFL transfer swoop

Rangers have several areas of the park that need to be strengthened with a certain profile of player also needed by Philippe Clement.

The Light Blues manager has a shortage of depth in his squad and still lacks home-grown quality too.

One player who has been named as a Rangers target is Lyall Cameron with the Dundee midfielder approaching the end of his contract and free to speak to clubs about a pre-contract agreement.

How Lyall Cameron could be Rangers’ own Reo Hatate

Nils Koppen and Patrick Stewart have spoken about the need to sign more SPFL talent and the Scotland Under-21 international clearly fits the right profile.

Not only does Cameron have eight goals and seven assists in 27 appearances, but his style of play matches that of a player who has caused Rangers all sorts of problems in recent seasons – Reo Hatate.

Using Data MB's comparison model, there is little to choose between the two in terms of bally carrying, forward passing and key passes.

With Rangers moving towards a more data led recruitment approach, it is easy to see why Cameron might be on the shopping list.

Not only this, but he has proven quality in the SPFL, is at a good age to develop and is available for the same sort of fee that Rangers have been ordered to pay for Connor Barron.

What has Cameron said about ‘wanting’ Ibrox move?

Cameron wasn't asked directly about moving to Glasgow however, on his last visit to Ibrox, he made it pretty clear that he would jump at the chance to play for Rangers

"I know I'm only 21 but I'm one of the more experienced guys in the team," said Cameron about his role in Dundee's team.

"I think once everyone finds their feet and we start understanding each other I think we'll be OK.

"I'm really confident in my own abilities and I think I could play in a bigger team.

"Obviously when you come to places like Ibrox, you just wish you could get a move to a team like this.

"Obviously it would be huge for your career. So hopefully one day I can go on to do that."

Hopefully, Clement and Koppen agree.
