Rangers haven't had much to sing about in 2024 under Philippe Clement, losing the league from a winning position and two cup finals to Celtic because of dubious refereeing calls.

This season started slowly, but there are signs of improvement under a manager who isn't out of the woods yet with a squad that is finally showing the right sort of mentality and application.

The gap to Celtic is now in single figures with Rangers win over Dundee meaning that the New Year derby at Ibrox could be the trigger for a title race – something worth dancing about?

Philippe Clement out on the town as Rangers start to claw back gap

It looks like it is for Clement who was spotted enjoying himself in Glasgow cocktail bar Wunderbar at the weekend; the bald, 6ft 3inch tall Belgian is hardly inconspicuous.

Apparently, he's also big fan of Gwen Stefani.

There hasn't been much to celebrate since winning the league title in 2021 and Clement will be hoping that the two performances against Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic, added to the lead being cut, can inspire a bit of belief.

What has Clement said about the title race?

Speaking at the start of the start of this fixture block, Clement was asked if the title was already out of reach:

"We don’t need to speak about titles now, we need to speak about raising our level because we don’t have control over how many points other teams take.

“It’s totally not acceptable to lose that many points. We all know, I know, the players know so there’s hard work to be done to make that better the next couple of months.

“Frustration about losing points in a game where you have much more chances than the opponent, much more possession also."

The quality of chances being created has improved as has the overall quality of play.

Clement is right though, all Rangers can do is concentrate on themselves and, you never know, there might just be something to dance about at the end of the season.

As Marvin Andrews once said – "Keep believing!"
