Rangers issue stern 'supporter behaviour' statement ahead of Dundee with 'extremely damaging' warning

Rangers have published an unsparing statement over the use of pyrotechnic devices and illegal chanting.
It comes ahead of the club’s Saturday Premiership meeting with Dundee at Dens Park, with kick-off scheduled for 5:30pm.
The Light Blues have been hammered by both the SPFL and UEFA this season for supporters behaving out of line, costing the club thousands of pounds in fines.
Rangers were charged for lighting pyrotechnic devices against Motherwell and Celtic at the Premier Sports Cup semi-final and final respectively.
As such, 500 fans will be locked out of their next visit to Hampden Park in the competition, with a suspended 800 fan ban hanging over their heads.
More recently, UEFA fined Rangers for a ‘racist/discriminatory’ banner displayed against Fenerbahce at Ibrox, as well as dishing out a suspended stadium closure punishment.
Rangers hammered those responsible and said anyone whose beliefs align with the banner’s statement are not welcome back at Ibrox.
Rangers warning to fans over ‘illegal singing’ and use of pyro
Now, given all of the above, Rangers have issued a stern ‘supporter behaviour’ statement as the continue to uphold their zero tolerance stance over illegal chanting, discriminatory behaviour and the use of pyrotechnic devices inside stadia.
The club wrote: “Rangers has been sanctioned by both the SPFL and UEFA for unacceptable supporter behaviour this season, and the consequences of a repeat in any competition could be extremely damaging for the club.
“The greatest asset Rangers has is its supporters, and the club will be forever grateful for the loyalty and backing you give at every match, both home and away.
“The one thing we all share is that burning desire to see Rangers win, and your loud, proud and colourful support can only aid that aim.
“However, the use of pyrotechnics, the throwing of objects, illegal singing and the displaying of discriminatory messages will only continue to damage the reputation of the club.
“Rangers will play its part by dealing with those responsible in a strong and appropriate manner. However, the club also calls on all fair-minded supporters to stand up for what is right and reject any unacceptable behaviour.
“Supporters are also reminded face coverings are prohibited under ground regulations.”
Rangers fans have previous at Dens Park
Cast your mind back to the early months of Philippe Clement’s tenure at Rangers when he and his team visited Dens Park.
It was November 1, 2023 and Rangers supporters packed out the Bob Shankly Stand ahead of the evening Premiership clash.
Fans lit multiple pyrotechnic devices resulting in a massive fireworks display, causing the game to be halted after just two minutes by the referee.
That was because of the huge swathes of smoke that made visibility impossible, but also because the fire alarms inside Dens Park were triggered.
