Rangers legend Ally McCoist is one of British football's most popular broadcasters.

But that doesn't mean he's exempt from upsetting his fellow professionals as it proved following the return of TNT's Champions League coverage.

The ex-Rangers striker and manager has been clipped walking in on an interview and in his usual style, the moment is causing a bit of a stir online.

Ally McCoist accused of 'nicking beer' in interview

Ally McCoist was in Switzerland on Champions League duties for TNT Sports as Aston Villa made their first-ever appearance in the competition.

Despite being European Cup winners in 1982, Aston Villa have never played in the revamped Champions League and were facing BSC Young Boys in Berne.

It was a triumphant return to European form too, with the Villains running out convincing 3-0 winners, the goals coming from Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsay and Amadou Onana.

But before the game Ally McCoist was causing a stir on TNT Sports when he accidentally interrupted a live interview on the channel.

As broadcaster Darren Fletcher interviewed the father of Villa star Morgan Rogers, Ally McCoist unwittingly walked into the shot to collect some of his media notes from a desk.

Howard Rogers took the moment very well too, suggesting that McCoist had even 'nicked my beer'.

The beaming father then went on to speak of his pride regarding his son playing in the Champions League.

But Rogers also revealed he was excited to have met Ally McCoist, who was one of his 'boyhood heroes'.

Rangers legend is huge Ibrox ambassador

Over the last few years Ally McCoist has emerged as one of the nation's leading broadcasters.

Such is the Scottish legend's popularity, McCoist is routinely given gigs at the highest level of football in the Champions League, Premier League and at international tournaments.

It's not without good reason either.

McCoist has a famous wit and charismatic personality which transfers through into his punditry, but the Ibrox legend knows football and provides an expert level of analysis.

As a result, there are few people in the public eye who play a better ambassadorial role for Rangers than Ally McCoist.

A club legend in the truest sense of the word, McCoist scored a record 355 goals for Rangers across 15 years in Glasgow, where he lifted 20 major trophies.
