Rangers sent £7m transfer reminder as Ibrox hero restarts career in green instead of blue

Former Rangers chairman John Bennett famously branded the club's non-existent player trading model as 'mythical' after coming into the Ibrox hot seat.
Rangers have failed to properly reinvest the riches banked off the likes of Calvin Bassey, Nathan Patterson and Joe Aribo, with a stuttering squad of Championship rejects failing to deliver consistent success.
Rangers have since had to scythe through the club's wage bill – a renovation expected to continue into the summer – and are looking more global as they look to turn rough gems into sparkling diamonds.
But one shining light from the last decade is now trying to piece together his career after personifying the player trading failure that has so blighted Rangers Football Club.
Ryan Kent makes Seattle Sounders debut
Ryan Kent has officially made his debut for MLS side Seattle Sounders as he looks to kickstart his stuttering career.
Now 28-years-old, Kent admits he fell out of love with football after a troubling few seasons at Rangers and a disastrous stint in Turkey with Fenerbahce.
Having been released by Fenerbahce last October, Kent signed for Seattle earlier this month and earned his first minutes coming off the bench against Nashville.
Pictured in the green of Seattle Sounders, an unnerving image given Kent's links to the blue of Rangers, the winger played six minutes plus injury time in a resounding 3-0 victory.
Ryan Kent reminder of £7m Rangers transfer failure
There won't be anyone at Rangers who doesn't hope to see Ryan Kent get back on track in the USA after moving to the Seattle Sounders.
But the last few years of the winger's Ibrox career are perhaps the shining example of the gross mismanagement of transfer interests which has blighted the Gers.
Kent was signed for £7m from Liverpool in 2019 afree initially impressing on loan and the winger remains Rangers' biggest outlay since climbing, sometimes on their hands and knees, back up the divisions.
Leeds United twice made their interest clear, with a £10m bid rejected in 2020 and figures of £15m touted a year later. Steven Gerrard didn't blink.
Eventually, Rangers saw Ryan Kent run down his Rangers contract in a season which produced a paltry return of only three goals across every competition.
On the winger went to Fenerbahce, where it just did not work out, and now Kent finds himself in the US with the Premier League a distant dream.
For Rangers too, Kent's story is a reminder of the transfer incompetence which has the club looking at yet another rebuild this summer.
