The Rangers B team are action in this morning against Huddersfield Town – and there's been a surprise inclusion in the starting XI.

The Ibrox second string will face off against an XI from the League One side at the Rangers Training Centre.

Rangers have included a number of first-teamers and academy starlets in the line-up, but there is also space for a trailist who will have the chance to impress the watching Gers youth staff.

Trialist gets Rangers B chance v Huddersfield

Rangers B team manager David McCallum will be looking to continue his team's fine form after a thumping 5-0 SPFL Trust Trophy victory over Fraserburgh last time out.

But the coach has made some notable decisions in the Rangers B team for the clash at Auchenhowie this morning.

Mason Munn drops out for Alfie Halliwell, whilst Clinton Nsiala continues at the heart of the Rangers defence.

Big things are expected of the summer signing from AC Milan but Nsiala is the only outfield addition who is yet to make his Rangers debut.

Joining the French defender in the backline will be an unnamed trialist, the addition of whom in the line-up has raised some eyebrows amongst Gers fans.

Academy graduate Adam Devine, who hasn't played for the Rangers first-team since June, starts at right-back.

Romanian international Ianis Hagi is reportedly locked in negotiations over a return to the Rangers first-team but has been recalled to the B team fold this morning.

At the same time, there is no place for Alex Lowry who continues to find himself out of favour under Philippe Clement.

Clinton Nsiala and Ianis Hagi continue in reserves

Ibrox fans will have one eye on how the Rangers B team get on against Huddersfield this morning.

The inclusions of Clinton Nsiala and Ianis Hagi in particular are sure to catch the attentions of supporters with the situations around both players polarising the support.

Nsiala is being made to wait for his Rangers debut whilst Hagi continues to be frozen out after failing to secure an exit from the club this summer.

Some Gers fans are eager to see Nsiala in action whilst others continue to publicly criticise Philippe Clement over the situation with Ianis Hagi.

The Belgian manager has insisted that the decision over the Romanian was not only his, Hagi reportedly one game away from activating an automatic wage increase.

But it's clear Clement does not see the Romanian international as being part of his squad, at least for the time being.

"We spoke about that months ago, really openly with him and his agent also," Clement said at the end of August.

"That we don’t see him to become the next No.10 for Rangers for the next couple of years, so to look out for other opportunities so that story stays the same. For sure with Bajrami in the building you have this situation.

“We will see those things in the future. I will not say these things now.”
