Rangers star's international debut could be pushed back to 2025 as under-fire boss bites back

Rangers midfielder Connor Barron could be made to wait to 2025 to make his Scotland debut after the nation's win over Croatia.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been one of the success stories of the season at Rangers and has been involved in every game as Philippe Clement's new-look squad stutters through the campaign.
Such has been the form of Connor Barron the Rangers star finds himself in Steve Clarke's Scotland squad for the third time already this season.
But despite Barron impressing Scotland manager Clarke, the midfielder was once again an unused substitute in the impressive 1-0 victory over Croatia at Hampden.
And with the result keeping Scotland's UEFA Nations League hopes alive, Clarke may well avoid risking the young midfielder ahead of this week's trip to Poland.
Scotland and John Souttar record famous victory
Scotland recorded an impressive 1-0 victory over Croatia at Hampden which ends a baron run of only one victory in 16 games.
With all the talk before the game surrounding what Scotland can learn from Croatia's youth development, the Tartan Army helped cheer their side on to victory in Glasgow's southside.
Rangers centre-back John Souttar has been a key player for club and country this season and followed up a Man of the Match display v Portugal with another astute performance in Glasgow.
With minutes left to play, it was Connor Barron's midfield rival John McGinn who popped up to score, coincidentally drawing himself level with Ally McCoist on goals scored for the nation (19).
The young Gers star watched on from the bench as Rangers teammate Souttar and the rest of the Scotland team recorded a famous victory.
Connor Barron could be made to wait
The result means Scotland could yet qualify from a tight UEFA Nations League A Group 1 ahead of Monday's trip to face Poland in Warsaw.
Scotland need to hope Portugal defeat Croatia in Lisbon and that they overcome Poland away from home to have any chance of progression.
At the same time, Scotland need a goal difference swing of two goals in their favour, meaning if Portugal defeat Croatia 2-0 and Scotland win 1-0, the Tartan Army would progress.
Naturally, this presents a challenge for Connor Barron in terms of making his Scotland debut with everything still to play for in Poland this week.
Whilst we're sure the Rangers midfielder wouldn't have it any other way, Barron might well have to wait until next year to earn his first minutes for the Scotland national team.
After the November internationals, the Scotland team won't get together again until March 2025 when FIFA World Qualifying kicks off in Europe.
