Rangers look poised to announce Hamza Igamane as there next signing in a move that is the latest evidence of the club’s recruitment heading in a new direction under Nils Koppen’s watchful eye.

The 21-year old has a growing reputation and, for once, it looks like the Ibrox outfit are getting a player on an upward trajectory at the beginning of his career.

Philippe Clement has said before that he wants a younger profile to his squad with players who can contribute to the first-team immediately as well as one day bring a profit to the club.

The encouraging thing so far is that every player who has been signed, is at the opposite end of the spectrum to those who were released.

Hamza Igamane is no different and the Morocco Under-23 international will be an exciting addition with a hint of the unknown about the striker.

Hamza Igamane the latest player to meet Rangers new model

Reports and expectations are positive and the £1.5m initial fee, added to his profile, suggest that Rangers are true to the words that Clement spoke earlier this year:

"It is clear that almost every club in the world is busy getting players in that have the potential to grow, become better and at one moment, to sell them," he said.

"We don't have an investor who puts crazy money into the club every year so you need to build a model to get value out of the players you bring in or come out of your academy and to do intelligent moves at the right time.

"That needs to be the model for the next couple of years and not let players get out of contract, which we talked about in the past.

"It is important that the club earns money from transfers and can grow in the future."

Due to playing in Morocco, there isn’t a lot of information available via mainstream sources on Igamane, however, those who have watched him at first hand have been impressed.

They also think that his arrival could open the door for others.

Hamza could be trailblazer for Moroccan hopefuls

Speaking to Derek Clark at The Rangers Review, Taha from X site @MorrocanGrinta has predicted that The Famous could have a few more followers this season:

"This transfer was really surprising for Morocan fans.

"We haven't had many Morrocan players in the Scottish Premiership.

"One of the advantages of this transfer is promoting the Scottish Premiership in Morroco as many Morrocan fans will support and follow Hamza Igamane's performance in the Scottish Premiership."

When asked what type of player Rangers could be getting, Reda Alaoui Hamdi was very complimentary:

"You have a player who resembles (Memphis) Depay and (Marcus) Rashford.

"He's also demonstrated a good physical strength and technical prowess, he'll also bring international experience to Rangers."

Igamane is just under 6ft tall and powerfully built, he has also shown that he can score any type of goal and lead a forward line on his own.

He is, on paper, the prototype Rangers forward.

When the first choice option is injured, the second choice should be able to step in without causing the manager any problems.

It is no different with the academy players who have hopes of making the step up too.

Philippe Clement will want to go into next season with as many striking options as possible and Igamane looks like he could be one that the Gers boss can already rely on.
