Rangers told 'don't be fooled' by star who should be sold in January

Cyriel Dessers’ Rangers career has possibly been captured in a microcosm over the last couple of weeks.
Possibly on his way out of Ibrox, the striker has been relegated to third choice striker because of the failings that are evident in his game, with Hamza Igamane and Danilo clearly better in many departments.
However, Dessers has a never-say-die-attitude as well as an ability to come up with big goals in big moments. He did so against Manchester United in the Europa League and followed it up with another top finish against Dundee United.
He also hit a recent hat-trick against Fraserburgh and now has 40 goals across the last 18 months.
In the aftermath of the Tannadice win, Dessers admitted some of the stick from Rangers fans was hard to take and also highlighted a similar situation with James Tavernier.
It is clear there are some frustrations, which could factor into his thinking.
But Dessers also said he has “unfinished business” at Gers as he explained how there have been no recent talks with the club around his future.
However, the club have been told not to be fooled by the Nigerian’s recent form.
Michael Stewart says Rangers should still sell Dessers
Dessers’ recent form, six goals in four games, may have forced Rangers into a rethink if they were considering selling him this month.
But Michael Stewarts says it shouldn’t have – and says the only reason they should be happy with it is because it puts them in a better position to sell.
He also insists former Ibrox striker Antonio Colak was a better player.
Speaking on Premier Sports’ Scottish Football Social Club, Stewart said: “Cyriel Dessers, if I was Rangers, I'd be over the moon with what's happened in the last couple of games and just hoping, making it easier to facilitate a move out.
“He's scored two great goals. His numbers are not bad.
"Let's be honest, he's not good enough. Colak for me was a better all-round striker than Dessers.
“Get Dessers out of the door because he'll be on a big pack of money, you might be able to recoup some money but I'd be looking at those last two games and going 'Brilliant'.
"Don't be fooled into thinking there might be a player in there. We've seen enough."
Latest Dessers transfer talk
It has actually gone quite quiet in recent days but the latest news was that Dessers had been offered to Serie A strugglers Monza.
Their relegation rivals Cagliari have been keen, but like Leganes in Spain, are unable to afford a permanent deal and would prefer a loan.
Other clubs to have been mentioned are fellow Italians Empoli and Saint-Etienne in France, but an exit is looking less and less likely with less than a week to go in the window.
