Rangers have identified key areas in the squad that the club will look to reinforce in the January transfer window.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement is waiting to get confirmation of his January transfer budget with a list of potential options already thrashed out heading into a crucial winter window.
It comes after Clement confirmed talks with the Rangers board over January's plans were in the immediate pipeline.
Whilst the Premier Sports Cup has evaded Rangers this time, the Ibrox club will look to chip away at Celtic's Scottish Premiership lead and compete in the Europa League.
Delivering the Scottish Cup is also a non-negotiable for Philippe Clement and his team with January's recruitment set to play a crucial role in the second half of the season.
Here's the latest Rangers transfer news as the Ibrox side prepare to make moves in and out of the club.
Rangers targeting three key positions
Rangers have identified centre-back as a crucial area of concern following injuries to Neraysho Kasanwirjo and John Souttar in recent weeks.
With Leon Balogun and Robin Propper the club's only senior options in the centre-back position, the Gers will move quickly to boost their defensive ranks.
So far Rangers have only been linked with FAR Rabat centre-back Hatim Essaouabi, but that potential deal is with a view to the summer window.
Rangers may be tempted to return for Brazilian defender Kaiky having failed with a summer loan-to-buy bid for the 20-year-old Almeria defender.
Rangers also remain on the hunt for a number six type midfielder, a profile which the club were heavily linked to signing in the summer.
With the likes of Kenny McLean and Joan Jordan linked in the last window, Rangers News exclusively broke talk of interest in Croatian U21 international Marko Soldo.
The Ibrox side have also been heavily linked with a move for an attacking player who can play across the front three, another profile which Rangers missed out on in the summer.
Whilst the likes of Oscar Cortes and Rabbi Matondo have been stepping up their returns from injury, Rangers have relied heavily on Nedim Bajrami and Vaclav Cerny in the wide positions this season.
Morgan Whittaker was a summer target for Rangers but it remains unclear if the Ibrox side will return for the Plymouth attacker next month.
Domestically, Rangers have also been strongly tipped to explore deals for Dundee's Lyall Cameron and Falkirk star Keelan Adams, the latter of which is another Rangers News exclusive.
Several linked with Ibrox exit door
In terms of outgoings, there are several in the Rangers squad who could be moved on in January for a variety of reasons.
Ibrox academy trio Adam Devine, Alex Lowry and Leon King are finding opportunities at Rangers in increasingly short supply and may look to find minutes elsewhere.
There are also several high-earning players at Rangers who are quite simply not contributing enough on the park at Ibrox.
Kieran Dowell is a routine substitute in Philippe Clement's team but is someone who is not providing the club bang for their buck, whilst there is heavy scrutiny on striker Cyriel Dessers.
The Nigerian international striker has had his credentials routinely questioned by Rangers fans, with Dessers recently linked with a move to Ligue 1.
Rangers could also field interest in the likes of Premier League linked Hamza Igamane, who was reportedly watched by Everton in the Europa League draw with Spurs.
Other potential assets in the Rangers squad include the likes of Ridvan Yilmaz, Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande, with Nils Koppen admitting there could be sales in January.
