Rory Wilson left Rangers back in 2022 off the back of a staggering season.

The young striker notched record-breaking numbers for the Ibrox academy set-up with 49 goals the term before he departed for Aston Villa.

It marked a significant loss for the club in terms of a promising talent with a lot to offer.

Wilson would make the move to Villa Park and continue hitting new heights with their academy squads, playing above his own age level and ensuring staff took notice.

This season, however, the 18-year-old is coming to the end of the initial three-year contract he penned upon deciding to leave Glasgow and there continues to be an impasse with his club.

The Premier League side – in this season’s Champions League – have offered a series of new five-year deals to the talented teen, as the Athletic reports this afternoon.

But nothing has, as yet, been signed.

Rory Wilson has rejected a ‘series’ of new contract offers from Aston Villa

According to the publication, Wilson still has a bit of developing to do before he can be seriously considered for Unai Emery’s first-team but his representation are looking for a healthier pay packet.

They claim Villa have refused to consider breaking through their own wage structure for the academy level which would force them to “more than double the best-paid player in the academy and more than the first contracts of some members in Villa's senior squad.”

Contract talks have now been shelved which, adding to an ankle injury, is one purported reason as to why the youngster has not been given a look-in by Emery towards his main squad.

He will be free to speak to clubs about a potential pre-contract exit in January and he is not short of suitors given his scholarly record.

It is also claimed the compensation package for a freebie move in January would only sit at around £270,000 which could convince some Euro clubs to take serious note.
