Since Steven Gerrard delivered title 55 back in 2020/21, things haven’t been the same for Rangers.

But they haven’t gone according to plan for him, either.

Gers have just one League Cup win and a run to the Europa League final with Gio van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale sacked and Philippe Clement now under pressure.

But Gerrard didn’t last long at Aston Villa after making the move to the Premier League and he hasn’t had it all his own way in Saudi Arabia.

Former Rangers boss Gerrard sacked by Al-Ettifaq

In fact, Gerrard has reportedly now been sacked by Al-Ettifaq, according to Saudi News.

His side were on a run of five games in a row without a win and had been knocked out of the Saudi King's Cup by second divison side Al-Jabalain.

The former Gers boss has now paid the price for that form and is out of a job.

Rangers fans ask Gerrard question

With Rangers fans now losing patience with Philippe Clement and others, like Kris Boyd, delivering sack verdicts, attention will turn to who they want in.

And now that Gerrard is unemployed, some supporters are floating the idea of a sensational return.

One said: “If the rumours are true that Steven Gerrard has been sacked, would you take him back? Would this also mean a return to Rangers for Ryan Kent?”

One reply came: “100%. But his family has to move this time to Glasgow. He has made all the money he needs. We know he can win the league, beat Celtic and the players loved him. Same management team with out the snake off course. Bring kit man with him.”

Another wrote: “Yes 100% yes.”

But not everyone was convinced and one fan said: “Steven Gerrard won 1 trophy out of 13. As soon as the EPL came calling he was out the door.

“He has subsequently been a failure at every club since. So naturally our fans are like 'Bring him Home' We may have the most backwards thinking support there is.”

Another added: “For anyone mentioning Steven Gerrard, he has failed in his last two jobs. We need to look forward, not back. There are two managers out of a job right now that I would take in a heartbeat to replace Philippe Clement at Rangers: David Moyes or Graham Potter. Do it.”
