Summer exit has mentality questioned after Rangers exit raises 'temperamental' question

The saga of the summer saw Todd Cantwell down tools and hand in a transfer request to leave Rangers, not once, but twice.
Philippe Clement had a traumatic transfer window as manager, having to rebuild the squad whilst also having Ianis Hagi's contract situation to deal with too.
After signing for Blackburn Rovers on deadline day, Cantwell is starting to have more of an influence after a quiet start with former Scotland international and Ewood Park great Kevin Gallagher suggesting the stage at Rangers was too big.
Rangers were ‘too big’ for Todd Cantwell claims Kevin Gallagher
Ibrox is not the sort of place for a footballer to ply their trade if pressure is an experience that they want to shy away from and Gallagher, writing in The Sunday Post print edition for Sunday the 1st of December, reckons that Cantwell could benefit from the change of environment:
“I had only seen him in glimpses at Norwich before he went to Rangers," said Gallagher.
“I was surprised he chose Rangers but they are a big club. Join them and you have the possibility of winning trophies. However it is a different culture and maybe Glasgow was a little bit too big for Todd.
“He is a very temperamental guy’ we have seen that in the past.
“The Blackburn fans are hoping he can curb that side of him and do his talking with the football. And there has been evidence of him doing that.”
Has Cantwell grown up after learning Rangers lesson?
Cantwell could have achieved whatever he wanted to at Rangers; whether that was silverware, adulation, or even using the club as a stepping stone to get to get back to the Premier League.
The reality was entirely different though with a shortage of big performances against Celtic and in Europe, the sort of stage that big players wearing the famous Light Blue shirt need to shine on.
The "temperamental" side of Cantwell that Gallagher talks about largely involves the 26-year old's use of social media and the fact that he has now left three clubs under a cloud.
When things are going well, the compilation videos aren’t posted quickly enough, however, when the chips are down, it's always someone else's fault.
Time will tell if he's learnt his lesson.
