The very latest Rangers transfers news and rumours on January 4 including updates on Vaclav Cerny, Evan Ferguson, Nathan Patterson and Leon Belcar.

Vaclav Cerny is a wanted man in La Liga

Cerny has been an excellent acquisition from Wolfsburg on loan with the Czechia international already providing 10 goals and six assists from 29 appearances.

His latest standout turn came against Celtic in Gers’ magnificent 3-0 win where he clipped the upright twice.

But with brilliant form comes interest and now Villarreal are reportedly looking towards the 27-year-old winger with a view to moving for him either this month or in the summer.

Philippe Clement has hinted he wants to keep Cerny while the playmaker himself has been coy on his own future.

Premier League interest takes Evan Ferguson out of Rangers reach

Evan Ferguson was named as a potential Rangers target back in November when it emerged that Brighton might be willing to let him leave on loan.

Manager Fabian Hurzeler stopped short of confirming that news by claiming he liked what he’d seen from the Irishman.

Now the striker, 20, might have found himself well out of Ibrox’s reach with Arsenal apparently rivaling West Ham for his signature.

A possible Ibrox academy graduate’s return?

James Tavernier is coming to an age where Gers cannot rely on him every single weekend anymore and that sets the table for a new right-back to emerge.

Dujon Sterling has played there while the versatile Robbie Fraser left on loan for Livingston yesterday.

That leaves a possible spot to vie for and it’s claimed Nathan Patterson may be allowed to leave Everton if they can sign a January replacement.

Could a stunning comeback be made by the former Light Blues academy graduate?

Croatian pair Belcar and Soldo latest

Rangers have been keeping tabs on Leon Belcar as well as Marko Soldo, as we at RN exclusively told you.

But now we can confirm that, despite interest, Nils Koppen has not yet made any official approach to either player or their respective clubs.

That does not mean it won’t happen, of course, and Jutarnji claim a £600k fee might do it.

The same publication has also described a move to Glasgow would be “once in a lifetime” for Belcar who currently plays for Varazdin.
