Arne Slot insisted Liverpool will not get carried away after soaring eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, warning his players that Arsenal surrendered the same advantage last year. In the 2022-23 season, Arsenal were eight points clear of City in April but were overhauled by Pep Guardiola's side, who went on to claim a third straight title.

Mohamed Salah scored twice, his second goal from the penalty spot, as Liverpool earned a comeback win at Southampton. Slot has won 10 of his 12 league matches in charge and only twice in Premier League history has a team with that record failed to go on to clinch the title.
