Ex-Stoke City and Plymouth Argyle boss in contention for Millwall hotseat

Millwall are eyeing Steven Schumacher as a candidate to take over from Neil Harris as their new boss, according to The Mirror.
Millwall waved goodbye to club legend Neil Harris once again on Saturday as officially left his role as head coach after defeat to Middlesbrough.
The club announced last week that he would depart, spelling the end of his second stint in charge.
The Lions are in mid-table at the minute with Harris leaving them in 13th place. However, they are now without a win in six games and have lost their last three without scoring, so their next boss needs to that form around quickly.
Several names have been linked with the newly-vacant post at Millwall and now, a fresh candidate is said to be Steven Schumacher. The Mirror are reporting that Schumacher is one of many contenders being eyed up for the role.
Schumacher was sacked by Stoke City five games into the season after just eight months in charge. Stoke have not improved since that sacking and many believed Schumacher was doing a good job with the Potters.
Other bosses Millwall have been looking at include Wycombe Wanderers chief Matt Bloomfield, Lincoln City’s Michael Skubala and Dave Challinor of Stockport County.
A safer bet?
While Schumacher is still in the fairly early days of his managerial career, he has a steady record at this level. With both Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City, he was safe in mid-table.
With the Pilgrims in particular he was doing a fine job, staying above the relegation zone. After being handed the job when Ryan Lowe left for Preston, he kept the momentum well and secured promotion back to the Championship for the first time since the 2009/10 season.
He left Argyle in 16th place before joining Stoke City and guiding them to 17th after a shocking start to their season.
What next for Millwall?
Millwall’s form in recent weeks has been very poor, as mentioned earlier. They face a tough task in rectifying that over the Christmas period.
Their next opponents are the Championship’s form side in Blackburn Rovers. They visit The Den off the back of six wins in a row which leaves them in 5th place.
They then face trips to Norwich City and Coventry City. The Canaries have had a very inconsistent start to this season but always carry a threat scoring goals this season while the Sky Blues on the other hand have started life under Frank Lampard well, winning two of his first four games.
