Stoke City to appoint 54-year-old as new boss, will watch Burnley clash

Stoke City are set to name Mark Robins as their new manager and he will watch their game against Burnley this afternoon, as detailed in a report by StokeOnTrentLive.
Stoke City are poised to bring in the 54-year-old as their replacement for Narcis Pelach. They have been weighing up their options over recent days and have now found their man.
Robins was surprisingly sacked by fellow second tier outfit Coventry City last month after seven years in charge.
He snubbed the chance to speak to Millwall recently, as per reporter Richard Cawley on X, and The Sun claimed he was in the running for the Hull City job before they turned to Ruben Selles from Reading.
In this latest update, StokeOnTrentLive report he is expected to become Stoke City’s new boss. They are currently sat in 18th place in the Championship table after their 1-0 win over Sunderland last time out.
Stoke City to name Robins
Robins will be a sensible choice for Stoke City as they look to rise up the league.
He is vastly experienced and will be a safe pair of hands for the Potters.
The former Manchester United striker took over Coventry City back in 2017, having previously had a spell there five years ago, and guided them from League Two to the Championship.
The Sky Blues reached the play-off final in 2022 and also made the FA Cup semi-final last term before losing to Manchester United.
Robins has also had stints in the past at Rotherham United, Barnsley, Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United.
Following his exit from Coventry City, he said in a statement: “I’m really proud of everything that we have achieved and really proud of the relationship the fans have got with their football club now, and that is down to a number of things and factors, including all the work that went on with Dave, Tynan (Scope) and a number of people that allowed us to go and speak and be frank and talk to the supporters and earn their trust. And that was a huge milestone to hit, which allows you to then move forward.”
What now?
Robins will take a look at Stoke City’s players at Turf Moor as they prepare for a tricky test against promotion chasing Burnley.
He will then have the chance to bring in some new players with the January window now open for business.
