Hull City head to the Bet365 Stadium on Friday night to face Stoke City in their latest Championship outing.

Hull City are yet to win this season and find themselves in the relegation zone. They made the surprise decision to part ways with Liam Rosenior this past summer after missing out on the play-offs by three points in the last campaign.

Tim Walter came in to replace him but hasn’t been able to build on the good work his predecessor did and could start to come under pressure over the coming weeks if results don’t change.

The Tigers have lost their last two games on the spin 2-0 to Leeds United and Sheffield United respectively after drawing their first three matches against Bristol City, Plymouth Argyle and Millwall.

Stoke City raised eyebrows earlier this week by cutting ties with Steven Schumacher. They are sat in 13th place in the table and have won two out of their first five.

However, they felt a change was needed after they lost 1-0 away at Oxford United last time out. Norwich City’s first-team coach Narcis Pelach, formerly of Huddersfield Town, has arrived as their new manager.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

“This is a game that sees two sides who have harshly sacked managers over recent times face each other.

Hull City’s gamble on Tim Walter hasn’t worked out yet and he will be feeling the pressure already. Following Ryan Lowe and Steven Schumacher’s sacking so far this season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him follow suit before the next international break if the Tigers don’t win before then.

“His style of play is ridiculous and if Stoke City take advantage of it like Leeds United and Sheffield United have done recently, they should have no worries in getting their first win under Narcis Pelach.

Hull City take too many risks in playing out from the back and don’t have the players to do it. They are in trouble if they don’t fix it soon.”

Prediction: Stoke City 2-0 Hull City

Who is the manager of Blackpool?

James Ray

“This is definitely going to be one to watch on Friday night. Pelach hasn’t had long to work with his new players, who might be winded somewhat after the surprise departure of Schumacher.

“However, sometimes that change can bring an immediate enthusiasm even though there hasn’t been much time to work on patterns of play and embedding the tactics into the brains of the new players.

“That exuberance against a deflated Hull City side could be key, and I think it will help the new boss get off to the perfect start.

“This is at the cost of a Tigers side who just can’t find their feet under Walter. He wasn’t helped by summer business in my opinion, but things aren’t looking good and they could get worse.”

Prediction: Stoke City 2-0 Hull City
