Thompson starts: Stoke City team news and predicted XI to face QPR
Today at 09:20 AM
Stoke City head to bottom of the league QPR this weekend looking to continue their unbeaten run to four games.
Stoke City are in decent form coming into this one as Narcis Pelach continues to make his mark in Staffordshire.
They currently sit in 13th place in the Championship table, six points outside the play-offs and four above the relegation zone.
Last time out, the Potters hosted Millwall and were held to a 1-1 draw by the Lions. This ended a four-game winning run for Millwall and it was a decent result for Stoke on home turf. Ben Gibson equalised in the second half after Josh Coburn had given Millwall a first-half lead.
Their opponents QPR are winless in 11 and rock bottom of the Championship table. Marti Cifuentes is under a lot of pressure to turn things around but persisting injury problems will make the Stoke City game a tough one to get a result from.
Stoke City team news
Stoke on Trent Live relayed the latest on the injury front at Stoke City as Pelach looks to welcome a number of first-team players back to contention over the coming weeks.
Lynden Gooch is set to return to training after recovering from a knee injury sustained in September.
Gooch aims to be the first of four longer-term absentees to recover, with summer signing Bosun Lawal (back) and Sam Gallagher (hamstring) also progressing cautiously under the medical team’s supervision. Lawal has been sidelined since a stress fracture flagged during his summer transfer from Celtic, while Gallagher impressed briefly before a calf injury in October.
Ben Pearson continues rehabilitation from a hamstring surgery but faces an indefinite timeline due to an autumn setback.
Wouter Burger will also miss out due to suspension.
Predicted XI
(4-2-3-1)
Johansson; Tchamadeu, Phillips, Gibson, Bocat; Seko, Thompson; Manhoef, Moran, Bae; Cannon.
There could be just one change for Pelach as Jordan Thompson replaces Wouter Burger in midfield.
Ashley Phillips is expected to be fit after a knock during the international break. He pulled out of the England U20s squad after coming off in their first game but should be good to go for Stoke City.
Tatsuki Seko has impressed since making his first start and will likely continue in central midfield.
Million Manhoef and Bae Jun-ho have been a great form this season on the wings and will continue to provide for star striker Tom Cannon, who has six goals already this season.
