Sunderland head to the Bet365 Stadium this weekend to face Stoke City in their upcoming Championship clash.

Sunderland drew 2-2 away at Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day. Midfielder Chris Rigg and attacker Wilson Isidor got their goals at Ewood Park.

The Black Cats are currently sat in 4th place in the table as they eye promotion to the Premier League. They are in the play-offs along with Burnley, Blackburn Rovers and Watford.

Regis Le Bris has the chance to bolster his ranks in the upcoming January transfer window. He also has the opportunity to let some players head out the exit door.

As for Stoke City, they were beaten 2-0 at home by Leeds United last time out. They were unable to find the net against the Whites.

It has been a tough period for the Potters and they have slipped down to 19th position in the league. The Staffordshire outfit are three points above the relegation zone.

Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…

Harry Mail

Sunderland are unbeaten in their last 16 games and although they will be disappointed that they didn’t beat Blackburn Rovers last time out, they will still fancy their chances of extending their run against Stoke City.

“The Black Cats have some bright young players and are in a strong position to push on during the second-half of the season and go for promotion.

“Pressure is building on Stoke City boss Pelach and they will have a decision to make if their poor run continues.

“His move to the Potters hasn’t worked out and I can see them slumping to another defeat here.”

Prediction: Stoke City 0-2 Sunderland

Who is the manager of Blackpool?

James Ray

Stoke City look as though they’re staring down the barrel at yet another failure. Pelach hasn’t arrived in easy circumstances but once again it’s the call of the decision makers to have thrust him into this environment.

“Perhaps they’ll give him more time to sort things out but it could get worse before it gets better.

“The Sunderland clash marks yet another tough test and in all honesty, it’s not one I see ending well for the hosts. I’ll go for a 2-0 away win to pile even more pressure on Pelach and the Potters.

Prediction: Stoke City 0-2 Sunderland
