Nazariy Rusyn could leave Sunderland in the winter market, according to a report.

The Ukrainian striker left his country for the second time when the Black Cats signed him from Zorya Luhansk in September 2023. The first time was when he joined Polish side Legia Warsaw on loan in 2021.

Rusyn managed two goals and an assist from 877 minutes from 22 matches last season. He’s been restricted to 145 minutes from seven games this season and hasn’t featured for Sunderland since the start of October.

According to Sport.ua, FC LNZ Cherkasy and FC Metalist 1925 Kharkiv willing to offer him an escape route from Sunderland. It’s claimed these two clubs are keen on signing the 26-year-old on a loan deal in January.

Roman Hryhorchuk is currently in charge at LNZ Cherkasy and Patrick van Leeuwen at Metalist 1925 Kharkiv and both managed the Sunderland player at Chornomorets Odesa and Zorya Luhansk respectively in the past.

Rusyn’s contract at the Stadium of Light lasts until 2027, with an option of another year.

Régis Le Bris’ side, for their part, are ready to let him leave either on loan or a permanent transfer in the winter market. Rusyn could return to Ukraine on loan where LNZ Cherkasy and Metalist 1925 Kharkiv want to sign him.
