Romaine Mundle's late screamer handed Sunderland a point against the biggest timewasters to have visited the Stadium of Light this season. Here's how Andy rated the Lads!
Anthony Patterson: 6/10
Had no chance with the goal and didn't have much else to do, kicking wasn't great but a quiet game is probably what he needed.
Trai Hume: 6/10
Should have got a first half assist after putting a cross onto Isidor's head. Defended fine and coped well after being booked for a late tackle.
Chris Mepham: 6/10
Had a good battle with Riis throughout, the striker just about came out on top thanks to his well taken goal but Mepham did well to show some experience and leadership when Preston were timewasting with 10 minutes to go.
Luke O'Nien: 6/10
Made an important block early on and won quite a few challenges around the box, tried to make a nuisance of himself as time ticked down.
Dennis Cirkin: 6/10
Managed to cover well to prevent a goal in the second half but struggled a little at times against the overlap. Got forward when he could to support attacks and put one great cross into the box in the first half but no teammates attacked it.
Dan Neil (C): 6/10
Made a great diagonal pass in the first half which led to Cirkin's dangerous cross but was often a little overrun in the midfield two. Got turned a bit too easily for the Preston goal but covered so much ground trying to make up for the extra man in midfield.
Jobe Bellingham: 6/10
Like Neil he had to work extra hard in the midfield two, with spaces all around them. Got up and down the pitch all evening and put a real shift in without much reward.
Patrick Roberts: 6/10
Good to see him getting 90 minutes after going off early at the weekend and was often lively without a dangerous end ball.
Tommy Watson: 5/10
Looked understandably very rusty, struggled to have an impact and some heavy touches at times. Had a couple of chances to score, a header at the back post that went wide and firing well over after cutting inside.
Wilson Isidor: 5/10
Didn't link up particularly well with Mayenda tonight, had one great chance that he couldn't convert, missing the target from a header from close range when he really had to score.
Eliezer Mayenda: 6/10
Was dangerous when we managed to get the ball up to him and had a couple of good opportunities, firing over from an Isidor cross and in the first half he was played in but tried to shoot when he had teammates well placed, his shot was blocked though.
Substitutes
Romaine Mundle: 8/10
Scored the equaliser with a top class finish into the top corner and caused the Preston defence plenty of problems.
Chris Rigg: 7/10
Brought on as we got to grips with the game and looked much livelier than recent appearances.
Man of the Match: Romaine Mundle
Mundle showed the drive a lot of his teammates were missing after his introduction, always trying to make something happen and he popped up with the equaliser with a brilliant finish. Still looks a bit on the rusty side but made a huge difference to the energy levels of the team.
