Some random news we've sourced from South America today, as reports in Brazil claim that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus has shown an interest in the ownership of a top Série A club.

Sunderland owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus is apparently interested in buying Vasca De Gama, according to reports in Brazil.

Brazilian journalist Paulo Vinicius Coelho, speaking in UOL, claims Louis-Dreyfus has requested information about the Brazilian club's current situation, amidst the club being in litigation with its current owners 777 Partners.

777 Partners had recently tried and failed to purchase Everton and the Vasco's President, Pedrinho, has confirmed there have been discussions with various parties but they have not yet received an offer.

There are several models and a lot can happen. There could be a businessman capable of investing in Vasco to become a champion, there could be people interested in having Vasco as a training centre for great young players, or an investor could want to invest money initially and decide to buy SAF after a period of one year, for example. There are no proposals for the purchase at this time.

Vasco finished 10th in the 2024 Serie A season and boast players like Dimitri Payet and Phillippe Coutinho amongst their ranks.
