Sunderland have completed the audacious signing of Roma midfielder Enzo Le Fee on a season-long loan, sending a clear message to the rest of the division that we are very serious about achieving promotion.
Sunderland have made a significant statement in the transfer market by signing French midfielder Enzo Le Fée from AS Roma on a season-long loan. The 25-year-old playmaker joins us as we continue our push for promotion to the Premier League under the guidance of head coach Régis Le Bris.
Le Fée is our first signing of the January transfer window, and his arrival underlines our ambition to strengthen the squad as we push for promotion. While the transfer fee has not been disclosed, it reflects the club's commitment to bringing in the quality needed to compete at the top end of the Championship.
Le Fée is known for his creativity, precise passing, and ability to dictate the tempo of the game. Operating primarily as a central or attacking midfielder, he offers a new level of technical quality. His proficiency in set-pieces will add an extra threat to our attack. Fans can look forward to a player who not only creates chances but also works hard off the ball to help the team.
Le Fée's football journey began at FC Lorient in France, where his exceptional vision and technical ability earned him the nickname "The Magician." His performances in Ligue 1 attracted attention across Europe, leading to a move to AS Roma in 2024. Despite limited opportunities in Serie A, his potential was clear, and we have moved quickly to bring him to the Stadium of Light.
Speaking about the move, Le Fée said:
I'm very happy to be here and I'm excited to meet the people. There are some familiar faces with Wilson Isidor, Adil Aouchiche and Salis Abdul Samed. I also know the coach and I know how he wants to play, so I am sure this will also help me. Now, I just need to prove it on the pitch. I think that's the most important thing and I'm very excited to play in front of the fans. This is a big club. For me, that is normal, and I can't wait to get started.
Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman said:
We're delighted to welcome Enzo to Sunderland and thank Roma for their collaboration on this matter. He's a player we know well, and for Régis a player he's worked with previously. The opportunity to acquire a midfielder of this profile, who already understands how our coach works, is a unique combination we had to pursue. Enzo is an outstanding talent and we believe he can elevate our level in the second half of the season. We are delighted to have strengthened our group so early in the window and we are looking forward to working with him.
We currently sit fourth in the Championship and are well-positioned for a strong promotion push. The addition of Le Fée will strengthen our midfield options and provide a creative spark as we aim to climb the table.
