We have to give credit where credit's due

"Fans need to realise that the days of spend and bust are over and will never happen under this regime," writes Nic Wiseman.

Top of the division with a third of the season played; who'd have thought it?

Be honest. Nee one, man!

Neutral sources are throwing bouquets our way for the brave way we're doing things. Our swashbuckling style of play is gaining plaudits from all over the place.

Well, you wouldn't believe it if you listen to some of our fans. Apparently, all of our top assets will be away in January to line the pocket of our owner, who is seemingly after a quick buck.

Let's look at the evidence. Only two prized first team players have been sold since Kyril Louis Dreyfus took over. Ross Stewart and Jack Clarke. The Loch Ness Drogba has barely played a first team game since his transfer to Southampton. And Romaine Mundle has taken up the baton left by Clarke that we've hardly noticed his absence.

"Apparently", Crystal Palace are looking to make a bid for Jobe Bellingham, and Chris Rigg is on his way to Manchester United. The club never comments on speculation, and the fact that the team is doing so well will inevitably see players 'linked' with other clubs.

The funniest one was that League One Birmingham were lining up a bid for Rigg.

Haway man!

Both players signed new contracts in the summer and are obviously thriving in the current team. The players have a clear bond with each other. Seeing this season out surely means more than warming the bench on some lower placed Premier League club.

Kristjaan Speakman says that there will naturally be interest in our players, because they are doing well, but the club have shown they are prepared to hold onto assets to achieve the stated aim of promotion.

I hear it on local radio all the time, the squad is not deep enough. Fans call in with ludicrous assumptions and the pundit agrees with them. Haway man! Get a grip.

Isidor has been a revelation, as was Ross Stewart when he arrived from Ross County. Sometimes you have to give the recruitment team credit.

Chris Mepham has also been stand out, to the extent that discussions over what to do with Dan Ballard echo around.

So yes, we will have a few forced absences in our next game against Millwall. That's league football. The three suspended lads will be available in the next game at home to West Brom.

We have to give credit where credit's due. We are more than holding our own against teams with far bigger resources. Time to back the management, no matter how it sticks in your craw.
