Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Olympique Lyon midfielder Maxence Caqueret.
According to a report from Give Me Sport, Tottenham have been impressed with the 24-year-old midfielder and they have watched him in action multiple times this season. Tottenham sent scouts to watch some of their potential targets and the French midfielder has popped up on their radar because of his impressive displays.
Lyon are under pressure to sell players in January as they look to raise funds and Tottenham are hoping to take advantage of the situation and get the deal done. They could certainly use more quality in the middle of the park, and the French midfielder would be the ideal acquisition. Spurs have been linked with other midfielders as well.
He is capable of operating as a central as well as a defensive midfielder. He will add physicality, defensive cover and composure to the side from the deep. The player has the qualities to succeed in English football and he could be a very useful player for Tottenham. The midfielder has produced 2.3 tackles and 2.7 ball recoveries per game. He could form a solid partnership with the likes of Yves Bissouma if he joins the club.
It is fair to assume that the player could be available for a reasonable amount of money because of Lyon's financial situation. Spurs are closely monitoring the player and it will be interesting to see if they follow up on their interest with an official offer soon.
Tottenham have been quite mediocre this season and they will look to bounce back strongly. They will be desperate to secure Champions League qualification for the next season and they need quality players in January in order to get their season back on track.
Signing a quality central midfielder could prove to be a wise decision for them.
