Tottenham full-back Djed Spence may be heading out on loan during the January transfer window, with growing speculation surrounding his future at the club.

Although Spence has shown glimpses of his potential in limited appearances this season, doubts remain about his place in Ange Postecoglou's long-term plans.

Insider tips Djed Spence to be loaned out to another Premier League club

John Wenham, a well-known Spurs insider, has hinted that the club might still consider Spence expendable. He highlighted that the Lilywhites were willing to let the player leave for a relatively modest fee during the summer, suggesting a loan move to another Premier League side could be imminent, especially if a club faces injury issues in the right-back position.

Speaking to Tottenham News, Wenham said:

"Spurs were willing to let Spence go for not much money in the summer.

"Therefore, he probably is still available for transfer. I think it would probably need for a club to have a right-back unavailable due to injury or some other reason. However, Spence could certainly join a Premier League club on loan."

Spence joined Tottenham in 2022 on a five-year contract worth £20 million but has struggled to cement a regular spot in the squad. Instead, he has spent time on loan with Rennes, Leeds United, and Genoa, with his performances at the Italian club standing out as particularly encouraging.

Since returning to Spurs, the 24-year-old has managed seven appearances across all competitions, registering one goal and two assists.

His most notable contribution this season came in a 2-1 EFL Cup victory over Coventry City, where he scored his first competitive goal for the club. Despite these flashes of brilliance, Spence's limited game time continues to raise questions about his future under Postecoglou.

With a contract that runs until 2028, Spurs must decide whether to keep Spence as a part of their squad or allow him to gain valuable minutes elsewhere. A loan move in January could help the player further his development while offering Tottenham a clearer perspective on his long-term potential.

As the transfer window nears, Postecoglou faces the challenge of determining whether Spence can contribute meaningfully in a challenging period or if he would benefit from regular action away from North London.
