Fluminense want to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Richarlison in the winter market.
That’s according to Globo Esporte, who state the Brazilian club have identified the forward as the prime target to ‘increase the level’ of their attack.
The Tottenham player was at Fluminense for 18 months and left them for Watford in the summer of 2017.
Fluminense are planning to reshape their squad for the 2025 Club World Cup. They want to bring the 27-year-old back to the club and have made initial contact with him.
Globo add the South American club are ‘willing to invest’ to sign the former Everton man, without mentioning the fee they are ready to offer Spurs.
Richarlison has been limited to 173 minutes from seven matches for Ange Postecoglou’s side this season. The report states this is an ‘asset’ for his former club, to help them convince him to leave the north London club.
The player has been sidelined for most of the season due to injuries… but Globo donn’t take this into account.
Earlier this year, Fluminense president Mário Bittencourt opened the door for the Spurs man to return to the club.
“If all this conspires, plus the gods of football, the great tricolors who are with us in soul, if everything helps, there would be two players who would be a dream,” he said.
“Our Pigeon, Richarlison, if he wants, the doors are open. And another who didn’t play here, but who I admire as a player, who is a player everyone would like to have, is Neymar.
“If one day we have the conditions, who knows? Richarlison played here and knows how wonderful the fans can be.”
Fluminense want to improve their attack by signing Richarlison and it remains to be seen whether they can get this deal over the line.
