Tottenham Hotspur have intensified their transfer efforts to strengthen their left-back position after the departure of Sergio Reguilón at the end of the season.

TheBoyHotspur understands that one of the North London club's primary targets is Wolverhampton's Rayan Aït-Nouri. Tottenham are planning to make an opening bid of €35 million to sign the player. However, Wolverhampton are demanding around €50/60 million for the player, so the negotiations could be tough.

Despite his satisfaction with Destiny Udogie's performances, Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou believes that the signing of Aït-Nouri would provide the team with positive competition for places at left-back.

It is a familiar refrain of fans, 'Oh, we've already got a left back' (or whomever) but all too often we haven't!

The Spurs bench is frequently embarrassingly light, and the absence of meaningful depth isn't good enough for a club playing in a billion pound stadium.

Aït-Nouri has attracted the attention of not only Tottenham but also many big clubs in Europe. Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Manchester City, Manchester United and AC Milan have all put the player on their transfer lists because of his potential.

Tottenham's transfer list is not limited to Aït-Nouri. Among the alternative candidates are Everton's experienced left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko and Girona youngster Miguel Gutiérrez.

Opinion

My view is that the lad, at 23, is a good age and has crucial experience in the division, which is all too often overlooked.

No matter who is in the managerial hot seat at Spurs next season, the process of bringing in fresh meat must continue. We cannot be wheeling out Ben Davies forever, thanks very much.
