Fanciful dream to sign Destiny Udogie likely to be blown apart by Tottenham

Destiny Udogie has proved to be an important signing for Tottenham since he arrived from Udinese in the summer of 2022.

He has now played 57 times in all competitions for the London giants, who have seen him return to action after a hamstring injury in the past few weeks.

The Italy international has made three Premier League appearances since his return, but there is now the possibility of another club looking at him.

Journalist Maurizio Cardone spoke to Calciomercato.it about Juventus' change in sporting strategy and he tipped them to move for the Tottenham left-back.

He said, suggesting that Juve should have an Italian spine: "I have underlined this many times. Just look at the teams that have won in Italy, they have always had an Italian soul.

Speaking further and recommending Udogie as a target, he said: "In my opinion it is a good phase to bring in quality Italian boys. Buongiorno was a purchase to make.

"Think about strong Italian boys. Udogie could be a name, but there are many names. The skill of a manager is to anticipate talent before it explodes, that’s why it is important to have a sporting director. The direction is that."

While Juventus' interest in Udogie might crop up later, it would not be a move that suits them financially.

That is because the full-back arrived at Tottenham for a fee of £15m and his value has shot up, largely because of his good performances under Ange Postecoglou and because he now has nine appearances for the Italian national team.

It would not be a surprise if Spurs demand a major fee from any potential suitors and that could blow Juve out of the water.
