"One of the worst" – Gary Neville brutally singles out Spurs star after poor display vs Liverpool

Gary Neville has slammed the performance of Tottenham captain Heung-min Son after Spurs' 6-3 defeat to Liverpool yesterday.

The visitors started the scoring in the 23rd minute, with Luis Diaz heading in Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross.

And Alexis Mac Allister doubled the lead 13 minutes later, heading in from close range after some poor defending for Spurs.

James Maddison got one back for Spurs in the 41st minute with a brilliant curling effort, after Kulusevski dispossessed Mac Allister.

However, the Reds soon restored their two goal lead, with Szoboszlai finishing off a brilliant counter attack to give Liverpool a 3-1 lead going into the break.

Mo Salah scored a second half brace, with two goals in 7 minutes to make it 5-1.

Spurs did not give up, with Kulusevski and Solanke scoring in the 72nd and 81st minute to make it 5-3.

But the Reds secured the win with Diaz scoring the 6th in the dying minutes of the game to seal all three points.

While many Spurs players came into scrutiny for their performances, Gary Neville singled out Heung-min Son for not pressing Trent Alexander-Arnold, allowing him plenty of space to run riot.

The Manchester United legend said on The Gary Neville Podcast:

"They had some experienced players up top, I think Son was one of the worst actually and I love him to bits, world-class player."

"But some of his actual decisions to actually leave Trent Alexander-Arnold, go and press Joe Gomez or go somewhere else and then leave that space for Trent Alexander-Arnold to go into was just nonsensical, it was just mind-boggling really."

It was not just the players who came into criticism. Former Tottenham midfielder turned pundit Jamie O'Hara also slammed club chairman Daniel Levy and the state of the squad, calling on him to "sort it out" as Ange's depleted side got exploited by Arne Slot's Liverpool.
