Tottenham's injury woes continue as summer signing Wilson Odobert is set to miss a significant portion of the season, with his return not expected until March following surgery on his right hamstring.

The club confirmed the news via their official X account, revealing that the 19-year-old winger recently underwent a procedure aimed at addressing recurring fitness problems.

The injury adds to an already lengthy list of absentees for manager Ange Postecoglou.

King expresses concerns over Wilson Odobert injury

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King expressed his concerns about the impact of such a serious operation on a young player's development.

Speaking to Tottenham News, King highlighted the challenges Odobert faces in his recovery and predicted a prolonged timeline for his return.

"I can't see him returning before the end of February," King said

"That is quite a serious operation that he has had. For someone to have it at this age, it is very hard on him. He was progressing quite well, and now he has had to undergo surgery, which will leave him out for quite some time."

Odobert, who joined Spurs in August from Burnley, showed flashes of his potential early in the season.

On his debut, he played a key role in a commanding 4-0 victory over Everton, displaying his pace and creativity.

However, recurring hamstring issues have plagued his campaign.

He initially missed seven matches due to a similar injury earlier in the season. Since late October, he has been sidelined for an additional five games.

For Ange Postecoglou, Odobert's extended absence presents another hurdle in an already demanding season. Spurs have experienced mixed results across competitions, with the squad stretched thin by injuries to key players.

Odobert's ability to energise Tottenham's attack, especially in crucial domestic and European fixtures, will be sorely missed in the coming months.

Despite the setback, there is optimism within the club that the surgery will resolve Odobert's persistent hamstring problems, enabling him to return stronger and more consistent in 2025.
