Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has earned admiration not only from his current players, but also from those he's worked with in the past.

Ipswich Town midfielder Massimo Luongo, who played under Postecoglou for Australia, is one of those who still holds him in high regard and remains in touch with him.

Massimo Luongo says he is still in contact with Ange Postecoglou

Luongo credits the 59-year-old coach with having a lasting impact on his career. During an Optus Sport Football Podcast, Luongo shared that Postecoglou's clear vision and dedication to his coaching philosophy make him a great fit anywhere, from top-tier clubs like Tottenham to teams in lower divisions.

He noted that Postecoglou's approach remains consistent regardless of the level, which has helped him to achieve success at every stop in his managerial career. He also admitted that he has still remained in touch with the Australian.

Luongo said:

"I always thought, I just thought once he gets the opportunity, and he, like, believes in his coaching and his methods so much that he could do it at any club, whether it's Barcelona or Tottenham or League One team, you know, he'll implement the same style and the same tactics and the same ideas and culture and everything, so yeah, I thought once he gets a chance, like a lot of us actually, once he gets a chance then I think he'll definitely take it, and he has, everyone loves him, I think, from the outside"

When asked if he is looking forward to facing him, he said:

"Yes, yes, especially, I'll just say to you, he doesn't really talk to you when you're his player, he talks to me more when I'm not his player, but yeah, that'll be exciting, and it's the first club that I come over."

Tottenham remain in hunt for a new midfielder

Spurs remain interested in signing a new midfielder in the upcoming transfer windows, despite having signed Lucas Bervall and Archie Gray in the summer.

They wanted to sign another central midfielder and were strongly linked with the likes of Conor Gallagher and Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey. In fact, they even reportedly made an offer to Villa for Ramsey which included Giovani Lo Celso as part of the deal. However, their offer was swiftly rejected.

It has been reported that they will explore the market again for a new midfielder in the summer, and remain interested in signing the Aston Villa midfielder.
