Tottenham vice captain Cristian Romero has been linked with a move away at the end of the season amid interest from La Liga giants.

Real Madrid have been after the player since last summer, with reports suggesting that Carlo Ancellotii has identified him as an ideal player to join the star studded team.

Daniel Levy managed to fend off the interest then by slapping a £150m price tag on the player. But the links have not gone away, with suggestions that the Los Blancos are set to renew their interest this summer.

They are not the only side to be showing interest, with Atletico Madrid the latest club to register their interest in the World Cup winner.

With his current contract expiring in 2027, Spurs have been keen on tying him to a new long-term contract.

However, it was recently reported that the Daniel Levy has given Romero an ultimatum to be convinced to sign a new deal by the end of the season, or the club will consider cashing in on him amid interest from the Madrid clubs.

Romero's time at Tottenham and recent unhappiness

Romero joined the club initially on loan in 2021 followed by a permanent move in 2022, establishing himself as the cornerstone of the Spurs' defence.

However, with high aspirations, Tottenham's current situation has left him unhappy, and even took a subtly dig at the club hierarchy earlier in the season. He has also been left upset with the way he the club has managed his injury this season.

Champions League qualification could be a major factor in deciding whether the stays or pushes for a move away to La Liga.
