Tottenham Hotspur's collapse away at Brighton on Sunday afternoon was nothing short of embarrassing.

The Lilywhites were a joy to watch in the first half, taking a 2-0 lead inside 37 minutes thanks to goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison.

Registering six shots and denying Brighton a single shot on target, Spurs were great value for their lead and perhaps could have increased the margin before the break.

But what followed was one of the most humiliating collapses you could imagine, with Spurs conceding three times in the first 21 minutes of the second half to seal a 3-2 defeat.

"People will say they've gone back to what Spurs are – I'm not going the say the word," said Les Ferdinand after the match (via Sky Sports).

Well, 'Sir Les' might not want to say 'the word', but the boffins had no problem doing so.

The stats provider revealed on X after the match that this is the 10th time Tottenham have lost a Premier League game in which they've led by 2+ goals. Spurs are the first club in competition history to reach double figures and have done so at least three more times than any other team.

Opta, of course, chose to aptly end their post with 'Spursy'.
